Security tips for students:

  • Travel on well lit and high traffic roads (even if it takes longer to get home)
  • Don’t travel alone if possible
  • Stay alert to your surroundings and don’t get distracted by talking on your phone or listening to MP3 player
  • Travel in the first safety carriage of trains
  • If waiting for a train, stand in a well lit area near security cameras
  • Be cautious about reacting to any racial comments
  • Have emergency number ‘000’ as speed dial on your mobile
  • Don’t feel shy about calling or shouting for help if you are in danger

If you see or experience any attack, make sure you lodge a police complaint. You can also call the College’s critical incident line (24 hours a day) if you need to talk to a College support officer.
